 Graduation Dinner (Class of 2025) (December 5, 2025) 

We had a wonderful time at the Graduation Dinner celebrating our graduates from our programme as well as the Master of Arts in the filed of AI, Ethics and Society programme.

The evening was full of laughter and great memories, with highlights including:

  • ​Photo-taking around the HKU campus

  • Heartfelt speeches from our Programme Directors and two class representatives

  • A fun lucky draw

  • A lively stand-up comedy performance

  • Photobooths to capture special moments

Sun Yat-sen University Visit (September 21, 2025) 

A group of 28 undergraduate students and 4 faculty members from Sun Yat-sen University’s PPE programme visited our department.  The visit aimed to strengthen academic ties and promote exchange opportunities.

Highlights included a meeting with HKU PPE programme representatives, Dr Yuen Ho Yin and Dr Isaac Lowe, to learn about our programem’s curriculum and admissions. The group also toured HKU’s Centennial Campus and main buildings, ending the day with a campus lunch.

 Orientation (September 5, 2025) 

We were delighted to kick off the new academic year with our Orientation event, where we had the pleasure of welcoming our freshmen and dedicated teaching team. The event began with a warm welcome and an introduction to the programme by Professor Justin Tiwald and Professor Rachel Sterken.

Following the opening, each faculty member presented an overview of their elective courses, providing students with valuable insights into their upcoming studies. 

 Philosophy of AI Summer School - Paris 2025 

The AI and Humanity Lab, in partnership with the Institute of Philosophy at the University of London's School of Advanced Study, has confirmed the continuation of the Summer School in Paris this year.

The programme is designed for PhD students, postdocs, and early-career researchers in philosophy. It also welcomes MA students and professionals from related fields who would benefit from engaging with cutting-edge AI philosophy.

Participants have the opportunity to present and discuss their research in poster sessions, fostering collaboration with peers and instructors.

 Orientation (September 2, 2024) 

We were excited to meet our freshmen and teaching team at the Orientation. The Orientation began with a welcome speech and programme introduction by the Programme Directors. Following that, each teacher presented their courses. 

 

We wish all our students a successful academic journey at HKU.

 Hong Kong Ethnics Lab 

The Hong Kong Ethics Lab (HKEL) is a group of researchers based at the University of Hong Kong focused on contemporary ethical issues with practical impact.

As a student in the MAPPE programme, they are automatically an affiliate of the HK Ethnics Lab and have access to all their talks and events.
